Hello! I’m a Ukraine-born and raised visual artist currently based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Originally self-taught, I received a Fulbright grant in 2023 to pursue a master’s degree in the US and graduated with an MFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design in 2025.
Over almost a decade of making work for the publishing and editorial industries, I’ve created more than 50 book covers and illustrated picture books, editorials, poetry, and music. My author-illustrator debut Homebound, a wordless picture book about war in Ukraine, is set for publication in late 2025 with Orecchio Acerbo (Italy).
More recently, I’ve been branching off into animation and having an absolute blast mixing drawing with movement and music, my two life-long passions.
My work has often been described as touching and poetic, with strong compositions and layered textures. I work both digitally and traditionally, with a growing preference for the latter. You may notice there are a lot of birds in my work—it’s just something that happens and is beyond my control.
If you’d like to collaborate with me or just want to say hi, please drop me a line at winklerita(at)gmail(dot)com.
