Homebound (2024) is a wordless picture book about a white stork witnessing the loss and destruction caused to the natural and urban environments of Ukraine by russia's full-scale invasion as he is making his way back to his nest in early spring.
This book was created in the illustration MFA program I am currently pursuing at Rhode Island School of Design. I self-published a small batch of copies and directed 100% of the profit I made from selling them to various fundraisers supporting individuals or brigades in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Homebound
was selected for the sixth edition of The Unpublished Picturebook Showcase in 2024 from over 600 projects and will be featured at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in April 2025. It is set for publication in 2026 by the Italian pubslisher Orecchio Acerbo.
